Immigration Protest Called Off For Threats

A plan by U.S. protesters against illegal immigration to block traffic at more than a dozen border crossings in the southwest on Saturday was canceled after organizers said they received online threats from Mexican drug cartels.

Billed as a “Shut Down All Ports Of Entry” protest against the Obama administration’s immigration policies, demonstrators had said they would try to stop incoming and outgoing traffic at 17 locations in Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

But lead organizer Stasyi Barth posted a warning on the event’s official website saying that a combination of violent threats and “suspicious activity” on the group’s Facebook page prompted her to call off the action.

“If you attend, you are not just putting yourself in danger, but the law enforcement officers, as well,” Barth wrote. “Risking anyone’s life is not worth it!”

Another organizer, Rob Chupp, said the threats came from Mexican drug cartels, but did not elaborate. He said that while the protest was officially canceled, he and some others still planned to demonstrate in Brownsville, Texas.

  1. Maybe it’s easy for me to say this, as I’m not out there publicly resisting, but aren’t these people tucking tail rather easily?

Did they expect a polite little protest while they “shut down all ports of entry” on the southern border? I suppose they thought it would be like a nice Sunday picnic or a civilized petition drive, and that the other side would do nothing but comment.

I hate to say it, but the kind of opposition that we need won’t be run by people named “Staysi Barth”. Their minds are in the right place, but this type of resistance can’t be led by a bunch of soft-hearted women. They like to organize things, and write minutes for meetings and such, but they get a little woozy at the sight of blood.

The very best thing that could happen in a protest like this is for the drug cartels to act against the protesters. It would be hard for the media to ignore the protests, and hard for the media to excuse the attack by the cartels.

Everyone on our side needs to get good and seething hot with rage, angry enough to actually do something, not just pissed off as we are now. We scoff at black rioters, but at least the blacks go out and do something to make the other side kowtow to them.

We shouldn’t throw our lives away wantonly, but we have to be willing to put some skin in the game and risk our lives and our freedom in order to accomplish anything. The other side isn’t going to cave without a fight (like our side caved to them in the 60’s and 70’s).

The trouble is, a lot of people like me aren’t willing to risk our lives only to have people like these protesters backpedal or call us “too extreme”. Only a fool would throw his life away while nobody even noticed or cared.

Maybe I’m just making excuses. Maybe the right time just hasn’t arrived yet. Unfortunately, the time may never seem right until it’s too late.

Yes, that’s exactly what they expect; for the other side to act as they do. That’s why we’re losing. Our side thinks its a debate while our opponents have declared war.

I don’t think its time for blood, yet, simply because nobody would care.

    • Agree. It is past time for blood. The list of abuses today makes George III envious. Our founders and Constitution’s writers would already be in arms. That said, average Americans (if you can call them that ) would either not care or would agree with the .gov and media vehemence. I am afraid America has created the government
God wants us to have to teach us about breaking the deal he offered us. Prayer for direction is our only option at this point. If there comes
a time to shed blood for my faith or my family then so be it.
Note to anarchist; go ahead, start your war, see how long you last.
Darwin was right about some things.
