What Does The “E” In EDL Stand For?

With all the kerfuffle over Tommy Robinson leaving the EDL to join an “anti-extremist” group , and his statements on his reasons, I am wondering what the “E” actually stands for. The EDL site’s About page isn’t much help, their main focus seems to be sharia law-they’re against it-and universal human rights-they’re for it.  They also want the government to stop “islamists” and give voice to “moderate” muslims. If anybody has any ideas, I’d like to hear them.

Maybe the "E" stands for extremist?

    • I was being facetious. It seems from their position on immigration and islam that they aren’t trying to “defend” the English (which is an ethnicity) but trying to defend multicultural Britain from islamic “extremists”.

I think they were a ploy to round up malcontents and keep tabs on them as described in Lizard farmer’s How They Hunt post. Now Robinson will give some credibility to this Quillian Group and cripple the EDL. His new job will be rooting out “fascists” and “racists” from the British anti-immigration lobby.

Boom. Anti-multiculturists named, photoed, catalogued and neutralised.
